North Bali Airport – Ministry of transportation agrees on location for North Bali airport project in Buleleng regency!

There’s been talk of an airport being built in North Bali for the past several years, but a location in Bali’s northern Buleleng regency has finally been agreed upon. However, a location permit has not yet been issued. Bali Province governor Wayan Koster announced on Thursday last week as reported by Coconuts and Tribun Bali.

The North Bali airport shall be built in Kubutambahan on 420 hectares of “customary land” according to an agreement between Buleleng Regency, Bali Province and Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation.

Koster, as quoted by Coconuts said he met with Minister of Transportation twice to end up to the agreement. A feasibility study had been examining four different locations. The study was also looking at building a “floating airport” versus one on land Coconuts stated.

The land we are going to use to built the airport used is considered unproductive according to the governor. Kosater hopes that a location permit can be obtained early 2019. But Bali’s budget is limited and definitely to small to build an international airport. “We will need support from the Indonesian Houses of Reprentatives (DPR) Commission V, which hands infrastructure projects” Koster said.

It might be a good idea to invest in some infrastructure projects first before building an international airport in the middle of nowhere and hours from the tourist areas in the South.
